John Browne is a former Conservative Member of Parliament and graduate of the Harvard Business School. He is an economist, investment commentator, columnist and lecturer on various political, economic, financial and defense issues, including terrorism. He has forty years cumulative practical experience in the financial markets of New York, London and the Euro markets.

He is a weekly op-ed columnist for the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and the Senior Market Strategist for Euro Pacific Capital, Inc. He lectures at various economic and financial conferences. In addition, he is a Visiting Fellow at the Heritage Foundation.  He also appears regularly on TV for ABC, BNN (Canada), CBC, CBS, China TV, CNBC, Fox News, Fox Business News, MSNBC, Newsmax and NBC.

In Parliament for some fourteen years, John served on the Treasury Select Committee; as elected Secretary of the Conservative Defense and Finance Committees; and as elected Chairman of the Conservative Small Business Committee. His work involved him with many national leaders including President Reagan, King Faisal and Communist Party Secretary Gorbachev. In 1985, he briefed Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher that, contrary to all speculation, Gorbachev would likely become leader of the Soviet Union. 

John Browne graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (the UK equivalent of West Point) and was commissioned into the Grenadiers of the Royal Guard, serving as a pilot, parachutist and communications specialist. He served in British Guiana, Cyprus and Germany, sometimes on counter-terror operations. In London, he participated on major State occasions, including having responsibility for the pallbearers at the State Funeral of Sir Winston Churchill. He retired as a Major.

John went on to receive his MSc from Cranfield Institute of Technology and his MBA from Harvard Business School. In 1969, he joined Morgan Stanley & Co as an investment banker on Wall Street after working for some two months as a cowboy on a working ranch in Wyoming. 

He has served on the boards of several companies, both in England and the United States, including a bank, an investment bank, an investment trust, a newspaper, a television company, a hospital, a musical society, a youth organization, a community trust, a drug prevention society, a preservation society, as an advisor to a security company and as a governor of Southampton University and of Malvern college.

John has lectured in many parts of the world, including: in the Kremlin, Hong Kong and in Switzerland. His audiences have included: Harvard University; Harvard Business School; MIT; Cambridge University; YPO; the Council on Foreign Relations (NY); Congressional Committee on Foreign Affairs; Heritage Foundation; Morgan Stanley; Federal Reserve Board of Philadelphia; the White House Outreach Program; USMA West Point; USNA, USAFA, Volvo Financial Conference; Master Card; American Express and the Mexican Ministry of Finance.

He has engaged in representative sports including cricket, golf, rugby, shooting, skiing, soccer and polo. He played for some two years with HRH Prince Charles in HRH Prince Phillip’s Windsor Park polo team, under the management of The Earl Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s uncle.

He has published a book entitled ‘Grenadier Grins’—Short, fun reminiscences of a life associated with the Grenadier Guards. His latest book, ‘Hidden Account of the Romanovs’, is now launched. He intends that his next book will be about wealth preservation in face of a massive redistribution of wealth from the private to the public sector.
